Zenith

Here is an (edited for length) excerpt from a book I am reading called Captivating by John and Stasi Eldredge.  I thought it would be inspiring to share with my fellow beautiful ladies here in the blogosphere.

"It is nearing the end of the sixth day, the end of the Creator's great labor, as Adam steps forth, the image of God, the triumph of His work.  Nothing in creation even comes close... And yet, the Master says that something is not good, not right... and that something is Eve. She is the crescendo, the final, astonishing work of God.  Woman.

In one last flourish creation comes to a finish not with Adam, but with Eve.

She is the Master's finishing touch.  Given the way creation unfolds, how it builds to ever higher and higher works of art, can there be any doubt that Eve is the crown of creation?  Not an afterthought. Not a nice addition like an ornament on a tree.  She is God's final touch, his piece de resistance.  She fills a place in the world nothing and no one else can fill.  Step to a window, ladies.  Look out across the earth and say to yourselves, "The whole, vast world is incomplete without me.  Creation reached it's zenith in me."

Weird Day post

I just spilled the melted ice of my Bailey's drink all over my bed.  That's what I get for using a book as a table.  Today was a weird day.  I remember now why I don't like it here.  I remember why I wanted to leave two months ago.  Without him there is really nothing here for me.  I just need to graduate school and get out of here.  There's one too many people in this city.  I wrote a semi-scathing opinion article about how my school has a serious dearth of style for the school newspaper last week.  It came out today and I received an email from some guys who beseeched me to come down from my high horse.  It was amusing.  I think they missed the point.

"Dr. Ms Johnson,

I am afraid that me and a few of my friends apparently fall under the umbrella of "sweat suit donners" that you have established in your recent piece.  We of second floor mac are but simple plebeians and beseech you of great wisdom to have mercy on our poor conformed souls. If you could find it in your heart to descend from on high and pick out some outfits for us and teach us how to transcend the mundane we would feel deeply indebted to you.  We have not much to offer, other than our bodies as your canvas, and God's blessing (one of us is a theology major).  Please let us know if this is agreeable to you.

In great deference,

----------"

In other news, there is an inexplicable bruise on my left knee.

Does anyone else wish there was helvetica on this thing?  I have been pretty stoked on helvetica lately.  I know, I know, it's the trendy-typographer thing to be into helvetica.

We continued figure modeling in my sculpture class today.  I like it.  It's pretty relaxing just mushing clay around.

I am going to give myself cavities eating all these damn heart candies.  I made ramen for dinner tonight.  I feel like eating it every night for a week and acting like I'm as poor as I actually am.  Luckily I can eat in the school cafeteria for the next three months before I actually do have to eat ramen every night.

I am feeling weird today.

Menswear Mondays!

Well, In light of my recent post on men wearing scarves, I have decided to try and do a "Menswear Monday" every week. This is mainly for my little brother who is just starting high school.  I wish someone had imparted any sense of style to me when I was in high school, so I thought I'd try to do something for my little bro.  I'll try to do themed weeks, but for this first one I will just put pictures I really liked.  I'm not going to pick photos of guys who don't look like something my little brother would like, since the main idea behind this is for him.  I might pick some more avant-garde photos every once in a while that I really love, however.  So here we go!  The inaugural MWM!

Daffodils.

Sorry for the brief interlude!  My weekend was full of work, Valentines and saying goodbye.

My Love got me these daffodils (my favorite!).  This morning I took him to the airport and I will not see him again until June 15th.

Shirt/American Apparel,Vest/Urban Outfitters, Scarf/Hot Topic, Jeans/Wet Seal, Jacket/Wet Seal

Here is Friday's outfit.  I wish I had a job where I could just wear nice things.  Instead, I will get espresso stains on anything I wear to work, so I must dress accordingly or ruin all my clothes.

Scarf mania!

Well, my help has been enlisted to find ways that guys can wear scarves. My little bro wants to start wearing them and was wondering if I had any ideas how guys can wear them. Of course, I enlisted the help of trusty Lookbook, and found these fellows sporting the trendy neckwear:

This one doesn't have a scarf, but I just really liked his look and thought it would look really good on my little bro. I like the jeans and the jacket especially... And then here are some scarves I found at different shops:
Urban Outfitters

Hot Topic

I really like Hot Topic's selection of scarves. As bad of a rap as they get for being corporate punk sell outs, they really have some good pieces in there if you look the right way. They're pretty inexpensive too. I am currently wearing a scarf of theirs, actually.
