Long time, no see

Sorry for the looooooooong absence.  I'm currently traveling and the cyberworld is not as much a priority right now. Hopefully I will be back next week at full strength!  But for now: a decor post.  These are all old photos I had on my computer so I don't know where I got them from.  Likely Design*sponge or ffffound.  Anyway, if  you've seen them before on here, it's because they are old, but so good!

My best friend's boyfriend moved out and they broke up so she wants to start fresh with a fresh design in her apartment, so I thought I'd dedicate a decor blog to her new wonderful space in which her new life will flourish incredibly!!

I think one of the most important things to liven up and change a space is color.  People seem so frightened of using color in their homes, but I think it is the one thing that brings it alive and makes it not boring.  I personally really love blues and greens...

I think it's also pretty important to make your space just scream your name.  Whether it's my winnebago decor or the amazing chalkboard wall...

Using unique and fun decorating accents can really change a space.  I love this wall of clocks, what a fun alternative to just photos or artwork.
Another really great way to spruce up your place is to pay attention to your ceiling.  This great idea to decoupage your ceiling comes from mr. peacock!
Plus, it's completely washable, which is perfect for a rental!

I think it's very important to create a haven in your bedroom.  You should be surrounded by things that are soothing and relaxing.  Everyone wants a different bedroom.  You could have a sex kitten bedroom, a girly bedroom, an artsy bedroom, whatever suits your desires.
I have filled my bedroom with things that make me happy and that are visually pleasing to me because I'm an artist and the visual is so forefront in my mind and life.
My bedroom is probably the most feminine it's ever been (not counting when I was a mere babe and presumably my ma decorated my little room all girly).  I figured I would have a quasi-feminine room for the time being because if I get married someday, I won't want my bedroom to be feminine so I'd better do it now.  I hate when married women decorate the house all girly and pink and have frilly throw pillows and feminine bedding.  I would loathe being a man married to those women and have to come home to a girly house.  To each his own, I suppose, but I don't want to be that wife.  Long philosophy, but oh well.  My room probably doesn't even look that feminine...

Lou's Bluff

I went camping last night at one of my friends' lake cabin! It was great times. More pictures to come once I get pictures from everyone else's cameras.

Yesterday was the first day out of school "forever." It seems like there are so many opportunities just waiting for me! Who knows though. I have to go look at a new apartment today. I have a feeling I won't like it, but I might as well look anyway. I do like the one I have now, the location just doesn't make as much sense now that I'm not in school. I don't even know where life will take me in this next year. All my years up till now have been predictable: go to school. But now, with school behind me, the possibilities are endless!

Here is what I wore yesterday. Ironic that I wore my boyscout shirt the day we went camping...

Done and done

The dearth of posts lately is due to ....

Graduating from college!!

Here is my little cap decoration. If you've been around my blog for very long you know that almost all of my art deals with winnebagos...

Outfit? Sure. This is what I wore to the Baccalaureate service this morning. I don't have a lot of photos on my camera but there were at least three other cameras taking pictures today so I'm sure I'll acquire more in the coming days!

Wishlists, Slick, etc.

So many things have been assaulting my brain and eyes in the past 24 hours that this post may be a bit scattered. But first, I will share some wants. I won't even look at clothing to want because it just makes me sad that I can't afford any of it, but for some reason looking at interior design things doesn't make me sad. Perhaps it's because I just get so excited about decorating my future home that I don't care that I can't have these things right now.

First off, this incredible light fixture from Urban Outfitters. So exotic!

I love this quilt. I've been thinking about bedding a lot recently since I got new sheets. This quilt is simply lovely. I really love the look of quilts. I would like one someday. (UO)
Since I've changed my sheets, I've been in need of a new duvet cover. I don't want to buy a brand new comforter, so I think a duvet cover will do just fine. Found this one at UO, it could be a possibility. Alas, expensive!

This chandelier is just fabulous! It doesn't go with the aesthetic of my space, but it sure is fun! (UO)
I snatched this photo from ffffound.com and it's practically my dream existence. S e r i o u s l y. Living in a motor home on the beach??? Perfect!

Last night I ran across some Grace Slick photos and I just fell in love with her windswept 70's vibe and, of course, her thick dark hair. My desire to have bangs is solidifying, I think.

What a natural beauty, eh? I just love when people embrace their natural beauty instead of subscribing to "California Beauty." Not that some people aren't California beauties naturally, but a lot of people nip and tuck and bleach and tan and cake themselves in make up until they look like those natural California beauties. Like, watch one episode of The Hills. Hello, Heidi Montag. Anyway that is all to say that I like the beauty of the 70's because it was one of the most natural beauty periods in recent history, I think. The 50's were very prim-put-together-housewife, and the 80's were kind of this big hair over the top kind of beauty. The 60's were kind of a segue between prim and free-spirited. I simply cannot be a California beauty. I don't have the body, the hair, the face, or the clothes. I don't mind at all either. I prefer the Northwest beauty. Thank God my family moved out of California to Alaska when I was a small person.

Here is my dinner tonight! I walked around Fred Meyer for probably a half hour trying to figure out what to get. Avocado, Salad, and CPK BBQ Chicken pizza. Yum!

Operator

Here is the headboard I was talking about.  I think I'm going to leave it unpainted.  My creativity is being sucked dry by senioritus and I don't want to just slap something on it.  I had to move some of my pictures and things that were above my bed, so now my desk area looks a little different too.

The other day was nice and warm, a skirt day indeed.  I got a new dress the other day, so hopefully it will make an appearance soon.  I am thinking of altering it, but we'll see.  It's very summery!

skirt/thrift : shoes/minnetonka : shirt/thrift

I woke up at five this morning for work so I am utterly exhausted right now.  Trying to stay awake until a reasonable time for sleep.  Otherwise I would be productive and take pictures of the new dress.  Alas, my body desires to remain horizontal.
