Damn, that's hott.

So, it's halloween!! I was going to be Heidi Montag, but I got tired of people not knowing who I was last year (I was Amy Winehouse, post brawl with her hubby), so I decided to be something less obscure this year. Here is what I am being:

However, I won't lie that my inspiration wasn't Heidi Montag. She put out a horrible music video (no, not as bad as her first one. That's basically impossible) trying to be funny and made it like an old Fonda workout vid. But... it's Heidi Montag. Obviously it was funny, but in the sense of laughing at her not with her:

Halcyon Days

This weekend when I was in Seattle we sauntered into a Betsey Johnson store and I found this little jewel:
I want it soooo bad for my birthday dress! I would say it is the quintessential birthday party dress. Unfortunately it's in the neighborhood of 400 bucks. It's so adorable though. I will accept donations...

Here is my today outfit. Apparently I am addicted to scarves now. I just like a cozy warm neck, what can I say?? I got some earmuffs in Bellingham, and so I rode around on my bike with earmuffs, mittens and this scarf looking so autumnal.Dress: Fred Meyer
Shirt: JC Penney
Vest: Urban Outfitters
Shoes: Minnetonka
Scarf: Ruche

Tonight I am making Thai burritos for dinner. I am very excited, should be delish. Speaking of food/cooking, you all should make pumpkin cookies! I made some with friends this weekend and they were sublime. I don't remember what recipe we used, but here is a recipe for you to use! We added chocolate chips, but you can add whatever you like!

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1
/2 cups granulated sugar
1/2 cup butter (1 stick), softened
1 cup
LIBBY'S® 100% Pure Pumpkin
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions:PREHEAT oven to 350° F. Grease baking sheets.COMBINE flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt in medium bowl. Beat sugar and butter in large mixer bowl until well blended. Beat in pumpkin, egg and vanilla extract until smooth. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Race the sun to Seattle

This weekend was fall break and so I drove to Seattle to visit good people. Here is a relatively chronologically accurate depiction of the time I had.

It was so lovely to not be here. As I drove back I just had a general feeling of mal-ease. There is a lot of not good happening here at home and the escape was well needed. I decided I was sick to death of I-90, and so I drove back on highway 20, which is absolutely beautiful. Interestingly it only took one tank of gas to get here...which is odd because it took like 3 hours longer. We went up to Mount Vernon and Bellingham one day and we drove back on Chuckanut Drive, gorgeous. I wish I could've been a passenger because I kept wanting to look around, but I would've killed all of us. I went to a halloween party and was a cat. I have no pictures but maybe someone will have some posted on facebook sometime and I will share.
I hope I don't have any mail. I lost my mailbox key in Seattle somewhere off my keyring.

Being Heidi Montag for Halloween.

Yesterday I put on my fur coat and knitted mittens and went for a jaunt. Or perhaps a mosey. I found this truck. It was nifty so I decided to become friends with it:

Dress: ebay, Gunne Sax (altered from full length)
Scarf: Ruche
Boots: Nords Rack, Minnetonka
Coat: Vintage (my ma's!)
Sun G's: Nords

Sometimes I wonder if people think I'm always hungover because I always wear sunglasses. I just hate leaving the house in the morning and squinting all the way to school. However there have been a couple times that I just wore them through my first class.. and It's not bright in there. I have always loved sunglasses. It's probably because they are one of the few accessories that fit me. My feet are always too small for shoes, my wrists too small for bracelets, my fingers too small for rings. Sunglasses are just fun and one size. And relatively cheap, as long as you don't buy like RayBans or Gucci. Most of mine come from Value Village, so...

So, I have been contemplating what to do with my January. I want to get abroad because I have a plane ticket I need to redeem through Delta which I was supposed to go to Egypt with last January. So I have been having many thoughts regarding destinations. Obviously I would like to go everywhere, but I really want to be able to kind of get into a place. I want to not just travel, I want to get to a place and do things. This is my current thought: I would like to fly to NYC first and look at some galleries for a day or two. Then I will fly to London and spend the month in London in a shitty flat making art. I just discovered that my school has an Independent study class for Jan Term and I figure, why can't I take that class and just correspond via email and phone the whole month? Obviously It'd be awesome to be able to visit Paris for a weekend/ other places nearby. I guess my assignment right now is to figure out what London is like so I don't go and be completely freaked out and alone.

I am going out tonight. I think I'm gonna rock the Winehouse look tonight. Hive, Eyeliner, and heels that is. I think I'll leave the crack at home.

I've made mistakes I can't erase.

Timed not, done with, groan ill, loud death. Tick's until.
Wait for, what’s next, betwixt, tocks gong, Fight’s fixed!
I’ve got, two fists, talk shit, mitts fit, Tied gag. Tolled tongue.
Cycles, dials, dizzy, miles, at least no one else can; cheat.
It’s up amongst a bunch of downs. It’s lost in itself (it backwards bounds!)
The clocks’ ticks talked. “Let’s fuck,” “the rules.” Caw call!
Empha, sis is, lost in, time and, they grew, fat and, greedy.

A poem by my good friend Daniel:
Last night I went out for one of my new friend's 21st birthday. It was pretty fun. We went to a few places downtown. I ended up walking back to the car in sock feet cuz it was so far away and heels can only be comfortable for so long. It was fun though, I'm glad I went.

Then, before that on Saturday night I went to a show at a coffee shop in town and they had incredible Art on the walls. I wish I could remember who the artist was because I feel bad not giving her credit. Anyway, this was my favorite painting there.

I found this picture on Lookbook the other day and it made me happy cuz it reminds me of my fur coat! And then I found this picture of Ashley Olsen that I tore out of a magazine like a year ago, I can't even remember what magazine it was. Anyway, I really loved the photoshoot she did for the magazine, this was a whimsical shot.

There is a juried art exhibit at this gallery (which is in a church/run by a church... I think) coming up in February and the theme is the 7 deadly sins. So you have to make art about the 7 deadly sins in some way: victory over them, failure, salvation, etc. I am trying to make some work to put in it, and I have been working outside of my typical aesthetic (somewhat), but I kind of like the stuff I've come up with so far.

Obviously I am dealing with the sin of lust in these works. My friend Kristi says they have a whimsical gothic tone to them. I kind of like that conflict between the whimsical and almost fun imagery, and the dark content. It unsettles me and I hope that it unsettles other viewers.
