//Closed// Limited Edition Minnetonka Moccasin Giveaway!

Most of you are probably aware that I love me some moccasins. I have at least four pairs of moccasins and they're my favorite comfy shoe to wear around and, in my opinion, go with so many outfits. My favorites are my Minnetonka Moccasins, which I've loved since I got my first pair when my family was in Yellowstone on a cross country RV trip. My love for moccasins is probably genetic because my mom's favorite pair of shoes when she was young (well, and now!) was her pair of Minnetonka Thunderbird Moccasins. I love my Thunderbird moccs so much that I bought my bridesmaids each a pair to wear for my wedding! So, obviously, I was super excited when Minnetonka contacted me to do a giveaway of this brand new, limited edition Leopard Kilty Moccasin they're debuting in the fall. These leopard print moccs aren't available in stores yet, but I'm giving a pair away right here on ye olde blogge!

Lost and Found

This dress immediately reminded me of one of my favorite dresses from the Delightful Dozen two years ago. Tieka sent this gorgeous turquoise floral dress and it was so hard to send it back to her! Luckily, two years later, here's a dress which has almost the same beautiful print! Huzzah! Sometimes I wish I was a clothing designer so I could replicate all those amazing dresses that I regret not buying. I've kind of slacked on my "sew dresses" goal this year. I made one, and I made a skirt, but I have this amazing fabric that I want to make a dress out of, but it's so lovely I don't want to mess up and waste the fabric, haha! I just need to find the right pattern. Perhaps I shall go shopping for a dress pattern this weekend...

Looking at these photos, I wish I'd put on a necklace, but I'm just so bad at accessorizing with jewelry. I get all my clothes on and I'm like, "sweet, I'm fully clothed!" and then feel done. Granted, I don't really own a ton of jewelry, so more often than not, I don't even have something that would go well with an outfit. Maybe I will make a "resolution" to find more necklaces that I like and would go well with different necklines. So many blogger ladies out there are just so great at accessorizing with jewelry and that is a skill I'm sorely lacking.
I really love unconventional, quirky jewelry. In my mind, if I'm going to go through the effort of putting on jewelry, it'd better be interesting and artistic. I was introduced to Leviticus Jewelry years ago through Rebecca's blog, and I remember drooling over their amazing jewelry. Do you guys have any favorite jewelry shops with fun, unconventional, quirky pieces?

Days Gone By

Did you guys have a nice holiday weekend? Ours was pretty nice, despite going to Dan's grampa's memorial service on Saturday, which actually turned into a nice trip. I haven't spent much time with Dan's extended family, so it was a nice way to see everyone and figure out who "belongs" to whom. Dan's mom has quite a few siblings and I finally got them all sorted out! After the memorial service the whole family went up to his aunt and uncle's house and had pizza and hung out. His family is so great. It's wonderful to have married into another awesome family.
I wore a vintage black dress and my black floppy hat with a little feather/flower fascinator attached to it to the memorial service. There were a lot of older folks there, friends of Dan's grampa, and at least three of them came up to me and commented on how they used to wear hats like that all the time, or that their wife used to wear outfits like that all the time back in the day. It was so cute! It's one thing I love about wearing vintage clothing and vintage inspired looks. I enjoy talking to those older folks reminiscing about the days gone by, or musing on how no one dresses up or wears hats anymore. One woman at the memorial service came up to me and told me this great story about her and her twin sister hat shopping when they were younger. So cute!

I wore this outfit last Friday, right before huge thunderclouds rolled in and started raining and slinging lightning down! The way the weather can change here on the drop of a hat is so crazy to me. In Anchorage, if you wake up and it's sunny out, it's going to be sunny all day. If it's snowing, it'll be snowing all day. Here, I feel like I need to have my bag full of sweaters and umbrellas, just in case the weather randomly decides to do something else! I've started bringing leggings or tights with me when I go for walks, just in case it starts to get cold, haha! I guess I could just wear leggings or pants to begin with, but I'm determined to wear sundresses now that it's summer. Determined!

The Woman Project

This outfit isn't necessarily "inspired by" Amelia Earhart in the traditional sense of seeing an outfit of hers and trying to imitate it or evoke a similar look or feel. But I get the feeling that, while she definitely had a sense of style all her own, her clothes were also working clothes. Clothes she wore when she was flying and working, nothing super glamorous or frilly. So here is one of my "working" outfits. I feel like there's nothing special about outfits like this. Not much thought went into this outfit, as it was merely an outfit for running a couple errands and doing work at home. But I felt comfortable and relaxed in this outfit composed of some of my favorite items in my closet.
